Terms of Service — CodeDetect

1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using CodeDetect ("Service") at codedetect.dev, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
We reserve the right to update these Terms with at least 30 days' notice of material changes.
2. Description of Service
CodeDetect is an AI code detection tool that analyses code to determine whether it was written by a human or generated by AI. The Service provides probabilistic assessments — it does not guarantee the accuracy of its determinations.
Important disclaimer: CodeDetect's analysis uses heuristic and statistical methods. Results are advisory estimates and may produce false positives or false negatives. You are solely responsible for any decisions or actions taken based on scan results. CodeDetect should not be used as the sole basis for academic integrity decisions, employment decisions, or legal proceedings.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available".
3. User Accounts
Account registration may be required. You are responsible for account security and all account activity. You must be at least 16 years of age.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree NOT to:
- Submit code you do not have the right to analyse
- Use results to make automated decisions about individuals without human review
- Attempt to reverse-engineer the detection algorithms
- Circumvent rate limits or access controls
- Use the Service to harass, defame, or discriminate against individuals
- Violate any applicable law or third-party rights
- Resell or redistribute the Service without written permission
5. Managed Service
The Managed tier ($499/mo) includes dedicated analysis and reporting. Managed service terms, including custom SLAs, are subject to a separate agreement.
6. Intellectual Property
You retain all rights in code you submit. By submitting code, you grant CodeDetect a limited licence to process it for providing the Service. The CodeDetect application and branding are the property of CeciArt Consulting Ltd.
7. Payments and Subscriptions
Paid plans are billed monthly via Stripe. Subscriptions auto-renew. 14-day money-back guarantee on first Pro subscriptions. Managed tier refunds are subject to the separate managed service agreement. Contact billing@ceciart.io.
8. Free Tier
Limited to 2 scans per month. No uptime or support SLA guaranteed.
9. Ethical Use
You acknowledge that AI detection is an evolving field with inherent limitations. You agree to use CodeDetect's results responsibly and in conjunction with other evidence. Using detection results as the sole basis for punitive action against individuals is strongly discouraged.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. CODEDETECT DOES NOT WARRANT THAT DETECTION RESULTS ARE ACCURATE, COMPLETE, OR RELIABLE. RESULTS ARE PROBABILISTIC ESTIMATES ONLY.
11. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CECIART CONSULTING LTD SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING DAMAGES ARISING FROM DECISIONS MADE BASED ON DETECTION RESULTS.
TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT PAID IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR £100, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify CeciArt Consulting Ltd from any claims arising out of your use of the Service, decisions based on results, or violation of these Terms.
13. Termination
We may suspend or terminate access for Terms violations. You may terminate at any time via support@ceciart.io.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales with exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
